Toledo and Bowling Green Set to Renew Rivalry at Fifth Third Field

1/19/2022 11:00:00 AM

TOLEDO, Ohio – The baseball programs at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green have announced that they will play a game at Fifth Third Field, home of the Toledo Mud Hens, on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:05 p.m. This will be the second-annual Battle of I-75 game between the Rockets and Falcons played in Downtown Toledo after the two teams played at Fifth Third Field last season.

Toledo won last year's game, 5-2, in front of more than 2,500 fans. After serving as the home team last season, the Rockets will pass those duties on to Bowling Green for the 2022 game.

This year's game at Fifth Third Field will follow a four-game weekend series between Toledo and Bowling Green that will be played at Stellar Field at BGSU. The contest on May 10 at Fifth Third Field will be played as a non-conference game and will not count towards the teams' Mid-American Conference records.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through the Toledo Mud Hens ticket office online by visiting this link. General admission tickets will be $8.00, with discounted tickets available for high school and college students. Concessions will be available at the game as well.

Comments about the 2022 Toledo vs. Bowling Green Game at Fifth Third Field

Mud Hens Executive Vice President and General Manager Erik Ibsen: "The Toledo Mud Hens are committed to promoting baseball at all levels of play from Little League to the collegiate level. We have worked to bring this rivalry game to Fifth Third Field and we are excited to showcase these two Division I programs and players, not only this year but in the years to come."

Toledo Head Coach Rob Reinstetle: "I'm really excited to once again take the Battle of I-75 downtown and play at Fifth Third Field. Last year's game was a huge success for everyone involved. It was a great experience for the players and the city of Toledo to come together and watch college baseball at a first-class ballpark. We had over 2,500 fans come out to the game and it just proves that the baseball community in Northwest Ohio is really strong. We'd like to offer a special thank you to the Toledo Mud Hens for making this game happen again. I expect this year's contest to surpass last year's and for this event to continue to grow."

Bowling Green Head Coach Kyle Hallock: "We are excited to continue our annual Battle of I-75 game at Fifth Third Field. It was an entertaining and well attended contest last year. This event is supported greatly by the local area. We're very appreciative of the Toledo Mud Hens and their hospitality of allowing this game at their field. Come on out again to cheer on two good teams in a pro ballpark on Tuesday, May 10th."
