ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Toledo women's golf team concluded its season-opening tournament at Michigan's Wolverine Invitational on Tuesday. The Rockets finished the event in 16th place in the team standings with a 54-hole score of 953.
Â
The tournament featured 12 schools that were ranked in the Top 60 of last year's final Golfstat rankings at the par-71, 6,232-yard U-M Golf Course. Host Michigan captured the tournament title at one-under par 851, while Iowa State's Liyana Durisic and the Wolverines' Mikaela Schulz shared medalist honors at three-under par 210.
Â
Junior Amelia Lee paced the Rockets in the tourney at 20-over par 233 (80-76-77). Freshman Yedam Lee (80-83-75) carded the team's best round of the event with a four-over 75 today.
Â
Also competing for Toledo were sophomore Cheryl Hong (80-78-82=240), sophomore Angel Hii (76-85-81=242) and sophomore Macy Hanus (82-93-84=259).
"I'm proud of how the team showed up today," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "They didn't hang their heads about the first day. They just got to work. We were the only team in the field to have our lowest round in today's final round when the conditions were the hardest. This is just the beginning and we have many aspects to draw upon and grow as we prepare for next week's tournament."
Â
The Rockets will return to action next week with a trip to Manhattan, Kan. for Kansas State's Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 20-21.
