TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo's Chris Meyers has been named third-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball, the organization announced on Thursday.
Meyers is the program's first player to earn All-America status from Collegiate Baseball since Mitch Maier in 2003. He is the first to be named an All-American by any outlet since 2018 when Ross Adolph was honored by ABCA/Rawlings as a third-teamer that season.
The 2021 MAC Player of the Year, Meyers tied the school record with 15 home runs while batting .378 and driving in 55 runs, leading the MAC in all three categories, making him the league's first Triple Crown winner since 1998 (Tom Kuempel, Marshall). Meyers also led the conference in slugging percentage (.739) and doubles (18) while ranking second in on-base percentage (.509) and third in runs scored (50). He ended the season 11th in the country in slugging and 16th in on-base percentage. An intimidating presence in the batter's box, Meyers led the MAC in intentional walks with nine. He accumulated 39 walks in 2021, one off the school record of 40 (Andy Stetka, 2001).
In MAC play, Meyers hit .395 and slugged .782 while blasting 11 home runs and tallying 38 RBIs in 38 games. He was named MAC Player of the Week three times this season and he earned the league's Scholar Athlete of the Week accolade once as well. Meyers had 20 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI performances this year, both of which were most on the team.
