TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo's Chris Meyers has been named First-Team ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region, it was announced on Wednesday.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-American teams will be announced on Saturday, June 19.
The last Rockets to earn All-Region honors were Ross Adolph (first team) and Sam Shutes (second team) in 2018.
With Wednesday's announcement, Meyers adds to his impressive list of postseason accolades after his historic 2021 season. The MAC Player of the Year and Collegiate Baseball All-American tied the school record with 15 home runs this season while batting .378 and driving in 55 runs, leading the MAC in all three categories, making him the league's first Triple Crown winner since 1998 (Tom Kuempel, Marshall). Meyers also led the conference in slugging percentage (.739) and doubles (18) while ranking second in on-base percentage (.509) and third in runs scored (50). He ended the season 11th in the country in slugging and 16th in on-base percentage. An intimidating presence in the batter's box, Meyers led the MAC in intentional walks with nine. He accumulated 39 walks in 2021, one off the school record of 40 (Andy Stetka, 2001).
Meyers was also one of Toledo's MAC Medal of Excellence recipients, which honors one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each member institution who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically, and through demonstrated service and leadership. The Miamisburg, Ohio native recently graduated with his bachelor's degree in finance and a minor in marketing with a cumulative GPA of 3.644.
