TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo softball team posted another strong semester academically with an impressive 3.639 GPA in the Spring 2021 semester. The tremendous showing in the classroom followed up on an amazing 3.812 GPA in the Spring 2020 semester and a tremendous 3.723 GPA in the Fall 2019 semester and an outstanding 3.718 GPA in the Fall 2020 semester.
Â
"Like most students, our team were not fans of virtual learning," Head Coach Joe Abraham said. "Nonetheless, they dealt with it and continued to earn excellent grades. They are just driven in the classroom. Every semester I'll have a few of them tell me how worried they are about their current classes and that they might be getting a C or D in this or that class, and then they all get As and Bs."
Seven Rockets – sophomore Lily Beyer, junior Anna Dixon, freshman Lexi Eckman, freshman Lauren Erickson, sophomore Rebecca Johnson, sophomore Leah Munson, and junior Bri Robeson – registered 4.0 GPAs to earn a spot on the President's List. Twenty-five individuals on the team made the Dean's List with a 3.5 GPA.
All 16 Rocket varsity sports earned at least a 3.0 GPA, only the second time that has occurred. As a whole, University of Toledo student-athletes posted a combined GPA of 3.343, the second-highest semester grade posted in school history. It is also the fifth consecutive semester in which UToledo student-athletes have earned a semester GPA of 3.3 or higher, and the 13th straight semester above a 3.2.
