Toledo to Compete in MAC Championships This Weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's golf team will compete in the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend in Stow, Ohio. The 54-hole tournament includes 10 schools and will be held Friday-Saturday, April 23-24, at the par-72, 6,277-yard Silver Lake Country Club. Thirty-six holes will be played starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday with the final 18 taking place on Saturday.
THE FIELD
• Ten schools are participating in the MAC Championships.
• Kent State is the only school to win the MAC Championship in its 21-year history and is the favorite to win the tournament again this year. The Golden Flashes are ranked No. 13 in Golfstat's national rankings followed by Northern Illinois (113), Akron (158), Ball State (161), Central Michigan (188), Eastern Michigan (191), Toledo (192), Bowling Green (197), Ohio (203) and Western Michigan (211).

ROCKETS AT THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
• The Toledo lineup this week will include sophomore Amelia Lee at #1, freshman Angel Hii at #2, freshman Cheryl Hong at #3, freshman Macy Hanus at #4 and freshman Kait Natividad at #5. Hii leads the Rockets with a 76.3 stroke average with Lee right behind her with a 76.6 scoring mark.
• Each member of Toledo's lineup will be making its MAC Championships debut after last year's event was canceled.
• The Rockets have finished as the runner-up in five of the last seven MAC Championships and placed in the top three in eight of the last 10 years.
• Toledo's showings in the event have included five second-place (2006, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019), seven third-place (1999, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015), four fourth-place (2000, 2001, 2004, 2007), three fifth-place (2005, 2009, 2017) and one sixth-place (2011) finish.
