Rockets Ready for Weekend Battles against NIU, Miami

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team (10-7, 6-3 MAC) is set to visit Northern Illinois on Friday before returning home to host Miami on Sunday at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts at 1:00 p.m.
"Every MAC match is a grind with so much parity in the conference," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "The players have been focused and I expect them to do what they do best – compete."
Last Time Out
The Rockets posted a 3-0 record last week with wins at Buffalo and at home against Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
In the 5-2 win at Buffalo, Toledo took the doubles point and went 4-2 in singles play to take down the Bulls on the road. The Rockets won a thrilling 4-3 battle at home against WMU on Friday that came down to the No. 5 singles court. With the match tied at 3-3, Patricia Panta stood tall on the No. 5 court, winning a long first set and overcoming a second-set loss to win the third and final set, 6-4, to clinch the match for Toledo. The Rockets capped their perfect week with a 6-1 victory over EMU on Sunday where they claimed the doubles point and five of six singles matches.
Scouting Northern Illinois
Toledo won an earlier match against the Huskies, 6-1, on March 19. NIU is 12-11 overall and 4-4 in league play this season. They are led by Diana Lukyanova and her 18-4 record in singles play, as well as Maria Potsi, who is 13-7 in singles competition when playing on the No. 1 court.
Scouting Miami
The Rockets captured a 5-2 win at Miami earlier this season. The RedHawks are 7-10 and 1-7 in MAC matches this year, and are riding a four-game losing streak.
