TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team is back in action this weekend with a pair of road conference matches. The Rockets will visit Buffalo on Friday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. and Binghamton on Sunday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m.
"This will be a long trip with two, potentially long and grueling battles," head coach Al Wermer said. "We haven't been on road much so the guys are excited for the opportunity."
Last Time Out
The Rockets last competed on Saturday, March 20 at Ball State, dropping that match to the Cardinals by a score of 6-1.
Ball State won the doubles point by claiming victories on courts No. 2 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles play, senior Thawin Suksathaporn came back to win on court No. 3 to give the Rockets their lone victory of the day. After losing the first set, 6-1, Suksathaporn won the second set, 6-0, and outlasted his opponent in the third set, 6-4. Junior Cole Shoults represented Toledo on the No. 1 singles court;Â sophomore Krzysztof Wetoszka played on court No. 2;Â freshmen Adam Kovac and Wojciech Szczesny played on courts No. 4 and 5, respectively; and senior Filip Zupancic competed on court No. 6.
About Buffalo
Buffalo is 3-3 entering Friday's match and sports a 1-2 mark in conference play. The Bulls opened their MAC season with a win at Binghamton, but lost road matches against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan most recently. Simon Wibler (5-1) and Finn Macnamara (4-2) lead UB in singles play.
About Binghamton
Binghamton is playing a conference-only schedule this year and is 0-3 in its three contests. The Bearcats opened conference play with a home loss to Buffalo, then dropped road matches at Western Michigan and Northern Illinois on March 20 and 21, respectively.
