Toledo to Open MAC Season at Kent State This Weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo softball team opens Mid-American Conference play this weekend when it travels to Kent State for a four-game series. The Rockets (10-6) and Golden Flashes (3-10) will play doubleheaders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20 and Noon on Sunday, March 21.

REVIEWING THE ROCKETS
Kent State possesses a 3-10 record, but five of the Golden Flashes' losses have come to No. 2 Alabama, No. 16 Missouri and No. 19 Georgia. Senior Kennadie Goth leads KSU with a .393 batting average, while senior Brenna Brownfield tops the team in slugging percentage (.459), RBIs (9) and total bases (17). In the circle, freshman Jessica LeBeau started six games for the Golden Flashes and registered a 2-5 record and 3.68 ERA. Her top outing was a complete-game shutout with 15 strikeouts against South Alabama (March 16).

The Rockets will remain on the road next week and play a four-game series at Buffalo on Friday-Sunday, March 26-28. Toledo will play its first home games of the season when it hosts Northern Illinois at Scott Park on Friday-Sunday, April 2-4.

REVIEWING THE ROCKETS
- Senior Erin Hunt continues to excel for the Rockets, having posted a 1.73 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 60.2 innings pitched. She holds a 6-3 record with one save in 10 appearances.
- Sophomore McKenna Schmidt leads the team with a 1.40 ERA. She is 3-0 in four appearances covering 15.0 IP.
- Senior Dayna Denner tops the team in hits (16), doubles (4), home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.723). She is also tied for first with seven runs scored and ranks fourth with a .340 batting average.
- Sophomore Riley Mohr is hitting a team-best .556 (10-of-18) and ranks second on the team with a .944 slugging mark and third with six RBIs.
- Junior Anna Dixon ranks second on the team with a .375 batting average. She has hit in nine of her last 10 games during which she is hitting .467 (14-of-30).
- Junior Aleah Marra is tied for the team lead with seven runs and ranks second with eight RBIs and third with a .351 batting average.
- Freshman Lexi Eckman saw her first action of the season last weekend and came through in a big way. She hit .444 (4-of-9) in five games with five runs scored and a .545 on-base percentage.
- Toledo is hitting .281 as a team with sophomore Leah Munson (.324) one of six Rockets topping the .300 mark.
