Toledo to Play Five Games This Weekend in North Carolina

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo softball team heads to Boiling Springs, N.C. this weekend to play five games on the campus of Gardner-Webb University. The Rockets (6-5) will play three contests vs. the host Bulldogs (0-4) and two more against Saint Francis (9-4).Â

REVIEWING THE ROCKETS
Gardner-Webb is winless in four games with North Carolina State being its only opponent in a four-game series on Feb. 26-28. The Bulldogs have had nine games canceled and/or postponed. Senior Weslyn Almond boasts a team-high .417 batting average, has collected a hit in every game and has five of the Bulldogs' 11 hits this season. Senior Brooke Perry has started three of Gardner-Webb's four games and has a 6.46 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched.

SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS (PA.)
Saint Francis (Pa.) won nine straight games from Feb. 20 – March 6 before losing its last three games last weekend. Junior Lindsay Ward and senior Tayven Rousseau lead the Red Flash with .389 and .371 hitting marks, respectively. They each have three homers with Rousseau (14) having one more RBI than Ward (13). Sophomore Grace Vesco leads St. Francis with a 1.29 ERA in 49.0  innings pitched. She has started and completed seven games, while holding her opponents to a measly .111 batting average.

The Rockets will open their MAC schedule with their first eight games on the road. Toledo will first head to Kent State to play four against the Golden Flashes on Friday-Sunday, March 19-21 before visiting Buffalo for another four-game series on Friday-Sunday, March 26-28.

REVIEWING THE ROCKETS
- Senior Erin Hunt continues to excel for the Rockets, having posted a 2.12 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 43.0 innings pitched. She holds a 4-2 win-loss mark with six complete games in as many outings.
- Sophomore McKenna Schmidt leads the team with a miniscule 0.70 ERA. She is 2-0 in three appearances covering 10.0 IP.
- Senior Dayna Denner tops the team in hits (12), doubles (3), home runs (3) and slugging percentage (.788).
- Junior Anna Dixon paces the Rockets with a .379 batting average. She has a six-game hitting streak during which she is hitting .526 (10-of-19).
- Junior Aleah Marra leads the team with seven RBI and has a .296 batting average.
- Sophomores Riley Mohr (.600) and Macey Moore (.400) are each hitting over .400 but each has only 10 at-bats.
- Toledo is hitting .280 as a team with freshman Jenna Kroll (.368) and sophomore Leah Munson (.350) also possessing a .300 batting average or higher.Â
