TOLEDO, Ohio – Three members of the University of Toledo women's volleyball team earned postseason distinctions from the Mid-American Conference, the league office announced Saturday.
Sophomore Taylor Alt earned First-Team All-MAC honors for the second straight season. Joining her was junior Sina Uluave, a Second-Team All-MAC honoree, and Elaine Redman, who was named to the league's All-Freshman Team.
Alt is the first two-time first-team selection in program history, and the fourth player to earn multiple All-MAC honors in a career, joining Dakota Harkins, Kassie Kadera, and DeSeana Williams.
With both Alt and Uluave, Toledo has its first All-MAC tandem since 2013 when four Rockets were named all-conference: Harkins, Brooke Frazier, Adria Prior, and Lauren Rafdal.
Redman's All-Freshman Team selection is the sixth in program history and the second in as many seasons after Alt earned that award last season.
Taylor Alt | First-Team All-MAC
Alt has put together one of the best seasons by a Rocket ever, averaging 4.06 kills/set and 4.68 points/set. She ranks second in the MAC in both categories, and her kills/set average would make her the fifth player in school history to average at least four kills per set. Alt has accumulated 434 kills on 1,115 attack attempts in 30 matches this season, figures that rank fifth and 10th all-time in program history for a single season. A three-time MAC West Offensive Player of the Week award winner this year, she has tallied 10 double-doubles and has four matches with at least 20 kills.
Sina Uluave | Second-Team All-MAC
Uluave has started in 29 of Toledo's 30 matches and has been a key part of the team's success this season. The junior outside hitter is averaging 2.90 kills/set and 2.81 digs/set this year, registering nine double-doubles. She has 17 double-digit kill performances, including a season-high 18 against Bowling Green (Oct. 30) and she has cracked double figures in digs 13 times, with a high of 22 in a match against Marshall on Sept. 18. A critical part of UT's serve receive, Uluave is 458-for-476 in reception attempts this season. In a match against Eastern Michigan on Nov. 6, she recorded eight service aces, just the 10th player in school history to do so.
Elaine Redman | All-Freshman Team
Redman spent most of the season as Toledo's starting setter, averaging 10.22 assists/set during conference play, good for fifth among MAC setters. She has 17 performances with at least 30 assists, and seven with at least 40 assists. Her season-high in assists occurred twice, when she collected 48 assists in each match against Western Michigan. Redman earned MAC West Setter of the Week honors following her performances against Buffalo and Akron, when she averaged 11.00 assists/set and helped Toledo hit .335 across both matches.
