TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's golf team registered an impressive 3.608 GPA in the Fall 2020 semester. The Rockets have posted a 3.450 GPA or higher in each of the seven semesters since Roope took the reins of the men's golf program in the summer of 2017.
"I thought our guys performed admirably this semester," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "Think about the transition they've had to make from the life as a normal college student to remote learning from halfway across the world. Their ability to adapt and overcome has become a vital skill to meet their academic needs. I know they're all looking forward to the day when they're able to experience in person interactive learning once again, but until then they are really doing their best in this environment. I'm sure they are as proud of their accomplishments as I am. It also says a lot for our university and our educators to be able to instruct at such a high level remotely and we are forever grateful for their efforts."
Seven Rockets registered 3.5 GPA or higher to earn a spot on the Dean's List.
As a whole, University of Toledo student-athletes posted a combined GPA of 3.312, the highest semester grade in a fall term. It is also the fourth consecutive semester in which UToledo student-athletes have earned a semester GPA of 3.3 or higher, and the 12th straight semester above a 3.2.
"Despite the unique challenges created by the pandemic, our student-athletes have once again risen to the challenge in the classroom, continuing the proud academic tradition of Rocket Athletics" said Vice-President and Athletic Director Mike O'Brien. "Achieving superior academic outcomes is simply part of what it means to be a Rocket. I would also like to express my gratitude for the terrific work of our Student-Athlete Academic Services staff, led by Tony Belt, as well as to our dedicated University faculty, coaches and parents who support and nurture the efforts of our student-athletes.
