Toledo, Ohio - The NCAA released its annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) figures for the four-year period from 2015-16 and 2018-19 today, and the University of Toledo baseball team posted a score of 983.
This marks another positive academic achievement for the Rocket baseball team. Sophomore Darryn Davis earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors last week.
"I'm so proud our baseball student-athletes and the way they perform in the classroom," head coach Rob Reinstetle said. "In the fall we had a 3.2 team GPA and I challenged the guys when they left to beat that, and they did. This spring we had a 3.317 team GPA. That is outstanding and I tip my cap to the whole team."
APR is a gauge of every team's academic performance at a given point in time. Points are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis for eligibility, retention and graduation of scholarship student-athletes. "1000" is considered a perfect score. Sports that fail to reach the "cut point" (930) can be penalized with the loss of scholarships, practice restrictions and post-season bans. The APR data released today is a cumulative figure taken from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years.
