Toledo Earns Impressive 992 APR Score from NCAA

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA released its annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) figures for the four-year period from 2015-16 and 2018-19, and the University of Toledo women's tennis team posted an impressive score of 992. The Rockets ranked tied for third in the Mid-American Conference, finishing eight points behind frontrunners Akron and Ball State.
The Midnight Blue & Gold has now ranked in the top three of the MAC in each of the last five years, highlighted by perfect marks of 1,000 in 2016-17 and 2017-18. The Rockets have also posted at least a 992 APR in each of those years.
"Our strong APR is a reflection of the kind of student-athletes that are recruited to come to Toledo," Head Coach Tracy Mauntler said. "They are not only hardworking on the court but just as determined in the class room."
APR is a gauge of every team's academic performance at a given point in time. Points are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis for eligibility, retention and graduation of scholarship student-athletes. "1,000" is considered a perfect score. Sports that fail to reach the "cut point" (930) can be penalized with the loss of scholarships, practice restrictions and post-season bans. The APR data released is a cumulative figure taken from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years.
