Rockets Fall to ETSU and Stanford at Tennessee Tournament

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Toledo softball team (9-6) fell in both games on day one of the Tennessee Tournament. Junior Erin Hunt suffered her first loss this season against ETSU (8-10), allowing five hits and walking six in five innings. Freshman McKenna Schmidt took her third loss on the season against Stanford (19-3), allowing eight hits through 2.2 innings.

GAME ONE
The Rockets fought hard against ETSU but ultimately fell 3-2 in the first game of the day. Dayna Denner gave Toledo an early lead with a two-run homer in the top of the first, but Toledo couldn't generate any more offense. Junior Erin Hunt (7-1) was saddled with her first loss of the season, allowing five hits in 5.0 innings with one strikeout and six walks.

GAME TWO
It was a game of catchup from the beginning for the Rockets, as the team fell 13-0 to Pac-12 contender Stanford. The Cardinal sealed the win in the top of the third inning, scoring 10 runs. McKenna Schmidt suffered her third loss this season for Toledo.

- Dayna Denner slugged her third home run of the season in the top of the first to put the Rockets up 2-0.
- ETSU tied it up in the bottom of the second. Lili Bowen drilled a hard single to left-center to teammates Lauren Lee and Kylie Toler home.
- With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, the Bucs plated the game winning run on an infield groundout. with a hard ball to shortstop. Lily Beyer made the out at third, but Andrea Sarhatt scored, putting the Bucs up 3-2.
- Senior Leah Allison came on in relief in the bottom of the sixth.

- The Cardinal sealed the deal in the top of the third inning, scoring 10 runs off of seven hits and two Toledo errors.
- Junior Maggie McGurk relieved Schmidt in the third inning and allowed just two hits in 2.1 innings.
