TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's tennis team opened this weekend of competition by earning its second sweep of the season, defeating Saint Francis 7-0 on Friday. The Rockets also racked up their fifth-straight home win this month, going undefeated at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.

"There certainly wasn't much drama today because our guys got ahold of them and never let go," said head coach Al Wermer. "Our enthusiasm set a good tone early in the match."

On the No. 1 doubles court, senior Danilo Vukotic/junior Filip Zupancic swept Jordi Garcia/Derek Roehner, 6-0. The Rockets clinched the doubles point with a win 6-2 from freshman Luis Kleinschnitz/senior Thawin Suksathaporn on the No. 3 court. Sophomore Cole Shoults/freshman Krzysztof Wetoszka's match on the No. 2 court was left unfinished.

In singles action freshman Max Skaer finished first, defeating Sam Ghigiarelli, 6-1, 6-2, on the No. 6 court to put the Rockets up 2-0 over SFU. Shoults was next to post a point, defeating Andrew Teixeira 6-1, 6-1 on the No. 2 court. Zupancic clinched the match from the No. 5 court, putting Toledo up 4-0 over the Red Flash after downing Christian Banti 6-2, 6-1. On the No. 3 court, Suksathaporn earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Daniel Vinces.

Freshmen Kleinschnitz and Wetoszka entered three-set battles with their opponents on the No. 4 and No. 1 courts, respectively. Kleinschnitz earned Toledo's sixth point, coming out victorious over Jordi Garcia (6-1, 5-7, 10-3). On the No. 1 court, Wetoszka earned the Rockets' final point after a grueling three sets against Sebastian Pinos (6-7(4), 6-0, 10-5).

The Rockets are back in action at Shadow Valley on Sunday as they host Wayne State at 5:30 p.m. Free Domino's pizza will be available to fans. The day's top two donors to the men's tennis team's fight against cancer will also have the opportunity to play a mixed doubles match with No. 1 team Vukotic/Zupancic.
