Rockets to Host RedHawks on Tuesday Evening

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (11-13, 3-8 MAC) hosts Miami (9-14, 2-8 MAC) on Tuesday, Feb. 11 in the first of two home games this week. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena with streaming available on ESPN-Plus.
       
The Rockets will be facing a RedHawks' squad on a three-game skid following Saturday's 77-46 loss at Ohio. Junior Nike Sibande leads Miami with 13.3 ppg and is joined in double digits by junior Dalonte Brown, a Toledo native who averages 11.3 ppg and a team-high 5.7 rpg.

Toledo has won its last 12 meetings vs. Miami for its longest winning streak ever vs. the RedHawks. The Rockets won both matchups last season, posting a 71-59 victory in Savage Arena before registering a 66-63 triumph in Millett Hall.

Junior Marreon Jackson is leading Toledo in scoring and ranks second in the MAC with 19.5 ppg. He is the MAC's top scorer in league play with 22.5 ppg. Also ranking in the MAC's Top 10 in scoring for the Rockets is senior Luke Knapke at 16.1 ppg (7th in MAC). Senior Willie Jackson and junior Spencer Littleson are averaging 12.0 ppg and 10.5 ppg, respectively, with Jackson grabbing a MAC-high 11.8 rpg to rank fourth nationally

Toledo will be looking to rebound from Saturday's 85-83 heartbreaking defeat at Bowling Green in front of a sold-out crowd of 5,000 fans at the Stroh Center. Marreon Jackson led the Rockets with a game-high 31 points, while Knapke tallied 23 points and a team-best seven rebounds.

•  Marreon Jackson was named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch list in January, an award presented to the top mid-major player in the nation. Jackson ranks among the Top Five in the MAC with 3.0 3FGs/game (1st), 19.5 ppg (2nd), 5.9 apg (2nd) and a 1.9 assist/turnover ratio (T-3rd). In league play, he is first with 22.5 ppg, second with 5.7 apg and 3.8 treys/game, fourth with an 85.5 FT% and seventh with a 42.4 three-point FG%.
•  Jackson has scored in double figures in a career-high 13 straight games and is averaging 25.1 ppg in his last seven games.
•  Luke Knapke, who has been named MAC West Division Player of the Week twice this season, has scored in double digits in 23 of 24 games. The only game he didn't was a seven-point effort at Kent State (Jan. 7) when he was plagued by foul trouble.
•  Knapke ranks second on the team with 16.1 ppg and 8.2 rpg to go along with a MAC-best 2.1 bpg and is the only player to rank in MAC's Top Eight in points, rebounds and blocks.
•  Knapke is averaging 18.3 ppg and 8.7 rpg in his last six contests.
•  Willie Jackson leads the MAC and ranks fourth nationally with 11.8 rpg after ranking fourth in the MAC last year with 8.9 rpg. In league play, he is averaging 13.0 ppg and 11.4 rpg with a 52.8 FG%. He has led Toledo on the boards in 19 games, including a career-high tying 20 caroms at Notre Dame (Nov. 21).
 
SOME TEAM STATISTICAL TIDBITS
•  Toledo committed a season-low four turnovers vs. Bowling Green (Jan. 25) and ranks second in the MAC with a 1.19 A/TO ratio. UT is first in league play with a 1.20 A/TO ratio.
•  The Rockets have committed 11 or fewer turnovers in six or its last eight contests.
•  Three Rockets — Keshaun Saunders (45.5/5th), Marreon Jackson (42.4/7th) and Luke Knapke (41.9/10th) — rank in the MAC's Top 10 in three-point FG% in league play.
•  Toledo was 21-3 when outrebounding its opponent last year and is 8-4 this season.
•  UT was 21-1 last year when holding its opponent under a 45.0 FG% and is 10-6 this year.

SOME INFO ON THE ROCKETS' OPPONENT
         Miami ranks 11th in the MAC in rebounding margin (-1.6), field-goal percentage defense (44.3) and last in three-point FG% defense (36.9). The RedHawks are 1-7 on the road this season with their two conference victories coming at home over Kent State (77-74) on Jan. 14 and Eastern Michigan (73-68) on Jan. 25.
 
ROCKET SUCCESS VS. MAC EAST DIVISION
     Toledo has a 40-18 record vs. the MAC's East Division since start of the 2013-14 season.
 
MAC WEST DIVISION BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS
     Toledo won back-to-back outright MAC West Division titles last year for the first time in program history. The Rockets have won four outright MAC West Division titles (1998-99, 2006-07, 2017-18, 2018-19) and shared West crowns on four more occasions (1999-2000, 2004-05, 2012-13, 2013-14) since the conference went to the division format in the 1997-98 season.

ON THE HORIZON
       Toledo will host Buffalo in Savage Arena in a nationally televised matchup on the CBS Sports Network on Friday, Feb. 14. The Rockets will then be idle until traveling to Kalamazoo, Mich. to face Western Michigan (Feb. 22).
