Toledo to Visit James Madison on Saturday in MAC-SBC Challenge

Rockets posted 72-69 victory over Dukes in last year's event
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (12-11, 6-5 MAC) will take a break from Mid-American Conference play when it travels to Harrisonburg, Va. to face James Madison (11-13, 4-8 Sun Belt) in its second game of this year's MAC-SBC Challenge. Tip-off time for the contest is set for 4:00 p.m. in the Atlantic Union Bank Center with streaming on ESPN+.
The Rockets turned in another strong defensive outing on Tuesday vs. Kent State but came up on the short end of a 75-72 decision to the Golden Flashes. UT held KSU to a 37.9 FG%, marking the second-straight game it has held an opponent under 40 percent shooting.
Austin Parks topped the Rockets vs. Kent State with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting and hauled down a team-high eight rebounds. Sonny Wilson contributed 14 points and a team-high five assists. Mynor Strong registered his best outing as a Rocket, pouring in a season-high 13 points, hitting 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and grabbing a season-best seven rebounds in a season-high 32 minutes.
UT led for nearly the entire contest before KSU scored 10 straight points and took a 72-69 lead on Cian Medley's triple with 46.8 seconds left. Toledo had a chance to tie the game at 73-all but missed a free throw with 6.7 seconds left.
The Rockets are led by the backcourt duo of Wilson (17.0 ppg) and Leroy Blyden Jr. (15.9 ppg) along with the frontcourt tandem of Sean Craig (12.3 ppg) and Parks (11.3 ppg). Blyden leads all MAC freshmen with 15.9 ppg, while Wilson is dishing out a team-high 4.8 apg. Craig ranks third in the MAC with a team-best 7.8 rpg.
James Madison suffered a 64-61 setback to Louisiana on Wednesday after the Rajin' Cajuns hit a three with 1.3 seconds left. The Dukes are 7-3 at home this season. JMU's leading scorer and top three-point shooter, Justin McBride (16.7 ppg/44.2 3FG%), has sat out the last two games due to injury.
