WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Toledo men's tennis team fell 4-0 to DePaul and 4-2 to Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. on Saturday.

"This one was a hard pill to swallow. All I know is that this is a team of fighters. They fight together and they fight to the end," said head coach Al Wermer. "They're improving each day and are a pleasure to work with."

The Rockets faced DePaul in the afternoon where they fell 4-0 to the Blue Demons. In doubles play, freshman Luis Kleinschnitz/senior Thawin Suksathaporn defeated Fran and Vito Tonejc 6-3, but it wasn't enough to secure the doubles point. In singles, the Rockets' matches on the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 courts were abandoned. Senior Danilo Vukotic and freshman Krzysztof Wetoszka were both up one set against their opponents. Kleinschnitz was down in his second set 5-4 after taking the first 6-3 over Tripp Tuff.

In the evening, the Rockets closed out play with a close loss to Purdue, 4-2. The Midnight Blue and Gold nearly snagged the doubles point with Kleinschnitz/Suksathaporn defeating Sebastian Welch/Mateo Julio, 7-5, on the No. 3 court. On the No. 2 court sophomore Cole Shoults/Wetoszka nearly surpassed Julian Saborio/Michal Wozniak, but the pair of Boilermakers clinched the doubles point with a 7-6(4) win. In singles action, Wetoszka posted a two-set victory over Wozniak (6-4, 6-3) on the No. 3 court. Kleinschnitz posted the Rockets' second point after a three-set battle with Sebastian Welch (2-6, 6-0, 6-4).

The stage is set for the Rockets' home opener at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee on Feb. 7 with a doubleheader against Findlay at 1:00 p.m. and Tiffin at 6:00 p.m.
