TOLEDO, Ohio— Toledo's 2020 baseball season begins on Saturday with the Rockets' first official practice, held at the Fetterman Training Center.
Saturday's intersquad scrimmage is being held 20 days out from the Rockets' season-opening three-game series at East Tennessee State, which starts on Friday, Feb. 14.
"We are just about three weeks away from Opening Day and the guys have really been getting after it since we returned to campus," head coach Rob Reinstetle said. "It was obvious that they put in the necessary work over the winter break. We're really pleased with their conditioning to this point."
The 2020 season will be the first for Reinstetle, who was hired in July to take over the Toledo baseball program.
"We're planning on scrimmaging as much as we can leading up to the start of the season," he continued. "Everyone looks good at this point and you can see the excitement for the season to come. We still have areas we need to improve upon, but there is a different vibe in the air with this group right now and all of us can't wait for February 14th to get here."
The Rockets will play their first home game at Scott Park on Tuesday, March 17 against Youngstown State.
