Toledo, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's track and field team is set to venture to Muncie, Ind. for the Ball State Challenge on Friday and Saturday. The Rockets will partake in Friday's hammer throw and discus events, with the bulk of the competition taking place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with the javelin and 12:15 p.m. with 1500m run.

The Rockets are returning to the track after a 98-72 victory over rival Bowling Green last Friday. UT had a dominant performance, posting nine first-place finishes, 30 personal-bests, and three MAC automatic qualifying marks.

Senior Katie Dewey posted a MAC automatic qualifying mark in the discus last week with a throw of 48.89m to take first. Also clocking MAC automatic qualifying times and first-place finishes were seniors Petronela Simiuc and Janelle Noe. Simiuc posted a time of 2:11.09 in the 800 meters, while Noe stopped the clock at 4:28.31 in the 1500 meters. Simiuc later set a personal-best and took first in the 3000m with a time of 10:07.65. Also in the distance category, senior Joan Jepkirui clocked a personal-best time of 7:17.56 in the 2000m steeplechase to clinch first.

Sophomore Janell Rowe clinched three first-place finishes, topping the charts in the triple jump (11.80m), long jump (5.39m), and 100-meter hurdles (15.94, PR). The Rockets also swept the high jump category with junior Atalia Lima leading the way by posting a first-place leap of 1.65m.

UT dominated in the relays with seniors Shanice Williams, Christina Johnson, freshman Rayna Horner, and senior Nautica Hill clocking a time of 45.82 in the 4x100m to take first. Johnson, junior Yana Khabina, Horner, and Hill finalized UT's victory in the 4x400m, taking first with a time of 3:51.52.

Last Time at the Ball State Challenge
Dewey took first in the shot put with a throw of 15.08m and third in the second heat of the discus with a throw of 44.33m. Rowe and Deja Martin took third and fourth in the triple jump with leaps of 11.40m and 11.06m, respectively. On the track, Kennedey Glover took second in the third heat of the 400m with a time of 59.64. Amanda Bakley took second in the second heat of the 1500m, clocking a time of 4:55.77.
