TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's golf team will face its toughest competition of the season when it travels to the West Coast this week to compete in The Goodwin tournament hosted by Stanford University. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played from Thursday, March 28-Saturday, March 30. Action will tee off each day at 7:30 a.m. PT at the par-70, 6,758-yard Stanford Golf Course.
"The Goodwin is one of the premier events in college golf and we're so thankful that Coach Ray invited the Rockets to participate this year," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "The opportunity to compete on a storied golf course like Stanford and in a field of perennial national powerhouses, including two of the last three national champions, is a pretty special opportunity for Toledo golf. Â We owe a debt of gratitude to the Cardinal."
The Stanford Golf Course was ranked No. 88 in the world in 1993 by Golf Magazine. In a poll of college golf coaches in 2009, the course was ranked No. 3 in the nation. In 2015, Stanford was rated the No. 6 college course in the country by Golfweek.
The Rockets are competing in their third tournament of the spring against a 26-team field that includes five teams - No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 6 USC, No. 11 California, No. 14 Pepperdine and No. 16 SMU - ranked in this week's Golfstat Top 20.
