Toledo, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Dayton in a hard-fought match on Monday.Â
Â
The Rockets started out with doubles, dropping the doubles-point in close matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions despite the sophomore/junior duo of Tyler Gargas/Thawin Suksathaporn's 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position.Â
Â
"The doubles point was a huge factor," said head coach Al Wermer. "I feel like if we play this team ten times it's around 5-5. Today they got us in a good fight. We just need to learn from it."Â
Â
The Rockets' two points came from Suksathaporn and senior Omar Espinosa in singles play. Suksathaporn defeated Steven Karl in two sets (6-2, 6-2) at the No. 4 position while Espinosa defeated Joe DeMarco (6-3, 6-4) at the No. 5 position.Â
Â
Following the match the Rockets held a kid's clinic where the team shows local kids a few tennis techniques.
