Toledo Women’s Tennis Tramples Valparaiso

Toledo, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team trampled Valparaiso on Sunday, sweeping the Crusaders by a score of 7-0.
"It was a good team win today," said head coach Tracy Mauntler. "At this point in the season we are looking to get some solid match experience against quality opponents. Today should give us some confidence moving forward."
The Rockets started off by securing the doubles point with junior Dee Dee Leenabanchong/freshman Kiersten Carlson defeating their opponents 6-2, while senior duo Thalita Rodrigues/Kokoro Chishaki defeated their opponents 6-3.
The Midnight Blue & Gold continued the sweep with a dominant display in singles competition. At the No. 1 position, Leenabanchong defeated Claire Czerwonka in two sets (6-1, 6-1), while Chishaki defeated Meg Modesto 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 3 position, freshman Eileen Carney defeated Randi Wind in a three-set thriller (6-4, 4-6, 10-8). Freshmen Kiersten Carlson and Christina Fuller made quick work of their opponents, defeating them in two sets each at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively.
The Rockets will be back in action Friday, Feb. 1 at 1:00 p.m. when they take on Saint Francis at Twos Athletic Club in Toledo.
