Rockets Head to Bowling Green for Rivalry Meet

Toledo, Ohio – The Toledo women's track & field team will land in Bowling Green on Friday for the BGSU Dual Meet at Perry Field House. Field events start at 5:00 p.m. with running events to follow at 6:00 p.m.

The Rockets kicked off their season last weekend at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, where they recorded six top-five finishes.

In the field, senior Janell Rowe recorded a distance of 11.88m in the triple jump, landing third and posting a new PR.  Senior Deja Martin took fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.36m and senior Katie Dewey took sixth in shot put with a throw of 13.95m. In the high jump event, freshman Julia Smith  landed in a three-person tie for fourth, clearing a height of 1.60m.

On the track, senior Shanice Williams took second in the 60-meter dash (7.52). Â Claire Steigerwald set the pace for the Rockets in the 3K event, taking ninth with a time of 9:51.41 and with Rebecca Snyder and Michelle Hostettler following closely to take 12th (10:20.9) and 15th (10:39.33), respectively. Â Freshman Rayna Horner finished fifth in the 400-meter (58.70).

Last year, the Rockets met the Falcons in the BGSU Dual in the outdoor portion of the season, ending the competition in a tie, 96-96. During the indoor portion of the 2017-18 season, the Rockets faced the Falcons in Bowling Green's Tom Wright Classic, where Hostettler edged out BG's Rachel Durbin to win the mile run (5:04.73). Dewey and Kleespies also landed in the top-five in the shot put event.Â
