VERONA, Wis. - University of Toledo junior Pinyada Kuvanun is tied for 26th place following Monday's first round of the 2018 NCAA Madison Regional. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Wisconsin at the par-72, 6,313-yard University Ridge Golf Course.
Kuvanun concluded play with a round of one-over par 73, posting two birdies, three bogeys and 13 pars on the day. The field includes 24 Top 100 players, with Kuvanun ranking 84th in Golfstat's rankings.
Virginia's Beth Lillie and Wisconsin's Gabby Curtis hold the lead after 18 holes at five-under par 67. A total of 17 golfers shot under par in the first round. The No. 31 Cavaliers sit atop the team standings at nine-under par, four strokes in front of No. 4 Duke and six ahead of No. 6 Southern Cal.
Kuvanun opened her round with a birdie on Hole No. 1 but hit the turn at two-over par after posting bogeys at No. 3, No. 7 and No. 9. She then registered pars on eight of her final nine holes and sunk a birdie putt on No. 16 to finish at one-over.
Kuvanun is one of 96 players, comprised of 18 teams and six individuals, taking part in the event, which is scheduled for three rounds. The second round will commence on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET. Kuvanun is set to tee off at 9:45 a.m. ET.
The top six teams and the top three individuals not associated with those squads will advance to the 2018 NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla.
