Rockets Closing Out Regular Season at Boilermaker Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo heads to West Lafayette, Ind. for its final regular-season event this weekend. The Rockets will be participating in Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, April 14-15. The two-day event will be played on Purdue's par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen Course and begins with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday.
UT features a balanced lineup with five Rockets posting 74.4 stroke averages or lower. Sophomore Joe Bryce leads the way with a 72.8 scoring mark and is followed by junior Duncan McNeill (73.8), sophomore Thomas Thurloway (74.0), senior Stephen Watts (74.2) and senior Colin Joseph (74.4). Bryce will sit out this weekend's tourney due to injury and will be replaced in the lineup by junior Spencer Shoemaker (76.4).

THE FIELD
• Seventeen schools are participating in the Boilermaker Invitational.
• Toledo will be competing against Mid-American Conference members Kent State, Miami and Northern Illinois as well as Big Ten foes Indiana, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin. Also participating are Cincinnati, Southern Illinois, UT-Arlington, UCF, Western Kentucky, Wichita State and Xavier.

ROCKETS AT THE BOILERMAKER INVITATIONAL
• Toledo will participate in the Boilermaker Invitational for the 11th time in the last 13 seasons. The Rockets' top finishes in the event are fifth-place showings in 2006 and 2009.
• UT's lineup this week will include sophomore Thomas Thurloway at #1, senior Stephen Watts at #2, junior Duncan McNeill at #3, senior Colin Joseph at #4 and junior Spencer Shoemaker at #5.
LOOKING BACK AT THE SEAHAWK INTERCOLLEGIATE
• Toledo carded its best round of the tournament with an eight-over par 296 in the final round to finish in 10th place at UNC-Wilmington's Seahawk Intercollegiate.Â
• Senior Stephen Watts tied for 12th place after firing a two-under par 70 in the final round to finish at five-over par 221 (80-71-70).
• Sophomore Thomas Thurloway tied for 30th place at 11-over par 227 (79-75-73). He was one stroke ahead of junior Duncan McNeill, who tied for 39th place at 12-over par 228 (72-80-76).
• McNeill ranks second on the team with a 73.8 stroke average, while Thurloway is third with a 74.0 mark.
ON THE HORIZON
Toledo will return to action in two weeks when it heads to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the MAC Championships on Friday-Sunday, April 27-29. The tournament will be held at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
