Toledo Baseball Releases 2019 Schedule

10/19/2018 10:10:00 AM

Toledo, Ohio— The University of Toledo baseball team and Cory Mee announced its schedule for the 2019 season on Friday.

The Rockets will be playing 56 games next season, 16 of which will be home contests at Scott Park. Highlights include seven games against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams; midweek matchups with regional foes Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State; and home weekend series against MAC opponents Western Michigan, Miami, Central Michigan, and Northern Illinois. Road conference pairings for the Rockets are Bowling Green, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, and Ball State.

"The 2019 schedule will be an exciting one for us," Mee said. "It will give us an opportunity to travel early in the year to some great venues and play some high-caliber competition. Those games will help us prepare for our conference schedule. We need to be playing our best baseball down the stretch, that's our goal every year. The schedule we've prepared this year should help us do that."

The season opens with a three-game series at Winthrop beginning Feb. 15. Notable non-conference trips include a weekend in Nashville facing four local schools, a three-game series against Bucknell to be played in Kissimmee, Fla., and a weekend tournament hosted by Richmond.

Conference play begins with a road trip to rival Bowling Green beginning March 22, and the first home game of the season is against Western Michigan on March 29. Toledo will host four home midweek games in 2019, with Dayton, Oakland, Butler, and Purdue Fort Wayne all making trips to Scott Park.

The final month of the season ends with a trip to reigning MAC champion Kent State, followed by five straight home games— midweek contests with Butler and Purdue Fort Wayne sandwiching a three-game series against NIU— before a road trip to Ball State to close out the regular season. The MAC Tournament starts Wednesday, May 22.

Last season, the Rockets went 22-33 and earned its fourth consecutive berth into the MAC Tournament.
