Toledo, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team will hit the road this week to kick off the winter portion of its 2017-18 schedule when it heads to Louisville, Ky. and Dayton, Ohio for a three-match weekend trip. The Rockets will face Louisville on Thursday to start the trip, then travel up Interstate 75 to face Dayton on Saturday and Wright State on Sunday.
"We've scrambled together a handful of quality workouts since our break," said head coach Al Wermer. "Every season's a journey, a process, and I'm very confident that the competitive spirit and team effort will be great right from first serve of the year on Thursday."
The Rockets took part in four tournaments throughout the fall season, and saw several of their players perform incredibly well in both singles and doubles play. Highlighting the fall slate for Toledo were juniors Luka Vitosevic and Vince Anzalone. Vitosevic paced play for the Rockets at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, posting a 3-1 record in singles play to reach the main draw quarterfinals. Anzalone stole the show for Toledo at the UT Rocket Invitational, posting a combined 5-0 record in singles and doubles play. Â
Thursday's match against Louisville is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
