
Deion Tansel Wins New York-Penn League Championship with Hudson Valley

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Former Toledo Rocket Deion Tansel and the Hudson Valley Renegades claimed the New York-Penn League Championship with a 6-0 win over the Vermont Lake Monsters on Thursday.
In the championship game, Tansel went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles from the number three spot in the lineup. Two Hudson Valley pitchers combined to throw a one-hit shutout in the win.
Tansel has put together a solid 2017 campaign. The Grand Rapids, Ohio native recorded a .277 average (53-for-191) with three home runs, 11 doubles and a team-high 33 RBIs. Tansel scored 23 runs to go along with a pair of triples and swiped seven bases in nine attempts.Â
The New York-Penn League is classified as a Class A Short Season league. The league consists of 14 teams located in nine states across the northeast.
