Toledo to Entertain Western Michigan in Final Home Games

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo softball (22-30, 9-9 MAC) close out its 2017 home schedule this weekend with a three-game series vs. west-division rival Western Michigan (19-24, 7-11 MAC). The squads will first meet at Scott Park in a doubleheader on Friday with game one slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. The start time of Saturday's contest remains to be set and depends on anticipated inclement weather moving into the area. All three games will be broadcast by ESPN3.

    Saturday will serve as Senior Day for Celeste Fidge, Ashley Maynard and Chandler Rice. The three seniors will be honored after game three.

Rocket Leaders
    The Rockets are hitting .253 as a team and the offense is led by senior second baseman Chandler Rice who holds a .390 batting average. Rice has tallied 67 hits and scored 43 runs through UT's 52 games. She paces Toledo with 15 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs, 35 RBI and 122 total bases. The Louisville, OH native has registered an impressive .709 slugging percentage and .454 on-base percentage. Junior OF Ashley Rausch trails Rice with a .299 batting average, 44 hits and 30 runs scored this season.
    Sophomore RHP Heather Webb (9-10) leads the pitching staff with a 3.44 ERA through 37 appearances in the circle. She has pitched a team-high 142.1 innings, including eight complete games, and has registered 94 strikeouts. Webb had two appearances earlier in the season for the Rockets, resulting in a pair of two-hit shutouts vs. Miami and Eastern Michigan.

    The Broncos enter the weekend at 19-24 overall and 7-11 in the MAC after a three-game series sweep over Eastern Michigan last weekend. The Brown & Gold offense is hitting .289 as a team, and its pitching staff has a 2.96 ERA.
    Senior third baseman Kelsea Cichocki comes into the weekend ranked No. 24 in the nation with a .430 batting average. She has tallied eight home runs, 40 RBI, and 96 total bases for a .711 slugging percentage. Junior Anissa Sanchez leads the Broncos pitching staff with a 2.63 ERA over 90.1 innings.
