Toledo Ties for First Place at Red Rocks Invitational

SEDONA, AZ – Toledo tied for first place at Northern Arizona's Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday but ended up as the runner-up due to a tiebreaker. The Rockets finished tied for first place with Seattle University at 20-over par 884, but the Redhawks were deemed tournament champions because their No. 5 golfer's scorecard was better than UT's No. 5 golfer.
The host Lumberjacks' Sofia Anokhina ran away with medalist honors with an impressive 12-under par 204 (69-68-67), 11 strokes more than her nearest competitor. Sophomores Pimchanok Kawil (73-73-69) and Pinyada Kuvanun (73-70-72) helped UT to its strong showing by tying for second place at one-under par 215.
Freshman Saranlak Tumfong tied for 14th place at eight-over par 224 (72-74-78), while sophomore Natcha Daengpiem tied for 30th place at 14-over par 230 (75-76-79). Freshman Thunpijja Sukkasem rounded out the Rocket lineup by tying for 42nd place at 25-over par 241 (76-81-84).
Junior Napaphan Phongpaiboon paced three Rockets competing as individuals by tying for 17th place at nine-over par 225 (74-76-75). Sophomore Hannah Kochendoerfer tied for 62nd place at 27-over par 243 (81-83-79) and freshman Donchanok Toburint finished in 74th place at 37-over par 253 (88-86-79).
