Toledo Begins Outdoor Season at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Toledo track & field team kicked off its 2017 outdoor campaign in the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State over the weekend.

The Rockets were led by a pair of newcomers to the program in the 400-meter hurdles. Yana Khabina placed sixth in the event with a time of 1:01.38, while Dandadeua da Silva finished in 1:02.35 to take ninth place.

The 3000m steeplechase was also a strength for the Rockets as Stephanie Barlow (10:51.22) finished 17th, Olivia Chinn (10:57.41) took 22nd and Zita Molnar (11:06.14) placed 27th.

Christina Johnson paced the Rocket sprinters with a ninth place finish in the 200m dash and a 34th-place spot in the 100m.

Maddie Jarrett placed eighth in the pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters and Ty'Shai Freeman leaped 11.59 meters in the triple jump, taking 16th place, to lead the field events.

The Rockets finish March and start April with a split squad going to the Oliver Nikoloff Open in Cincinnati, Ohio and to the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
