Toledo Opens Mid-American Conference Play at Home vs. Akron

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo (8-5) will open its 2016-17 Mid-American Conference season this weekend when it welcomes Akron (15-2) to the Glass City on Friday, March 24. UT will then travel to Bowling Green (4-8) on Sunday, March 26 for the Battle of I-75. Both matches are slated for 1:00 p.m.

Friday's match vs. the Zips will either be held at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts or at Shadow Valley Tennis Club, depending on the weather. Sunday's contest vs. BGSU will be played at either Keefe Courts or Perrysburg Tennis Center. Follow @ToledoWTennis on twitter for location updates.

"I feel very confident in our team after the tough non-conference schedule that we played this year," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "The team is prepared and ready to start this MAC season. Both Akron and BG will be challenging but our players are ready to compete."

Toledo is coming off a strong showing in last Saturday's 6-1 defeat over Youngstown State. The Rockets claimed a victory during its doubles competition, and carried its' momentum into the singles competition where the Rockets posted five wins to seal the victory.
