
Toledo Sits in 10th Place Following First Two Rounds of Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, LA - Toledo stands in 10th place following the opening 36 holes at the Louisiana Classics on Monday. The 32nd-annual tourney is being held at the Oakbourne Country Club (Par 72, 6,898 Yards).
The Rockets shot 26-over par 602 (296-306) during today's two rounds to find themselves 10th among 15 teams.
Individually, junior Stephen Watts (73-76) is pacing UT at five-over par 149 and is tied for 33rd place. Junior Colin Joseph (73-77) is one stroke behind Watts at six-over par 150, followed by freshman Joe Bryce (72-79) at seven-over par 151 and freshman Thomas Thurloway (78-75) at nine-over par 153 to stand tied for 36th, tied for 43rd and tied for 54th place, respectively. Rounding out the Rockets' lineup is sophomore Spencer Shoemaker (80-78), who sits at 14-over par 158 and is tied for the 78th spot.
In addition, freshman Grant Godfrey (81-79) is competing as an individual and stands at 16-over par 160 and is tied for 82nd place.
In the team standings, Mid-American Conference member Kent State stands atop the leaderboard with a two-round score of 15-under par 561 (281-280) and maintains a six-stroke lead over LSU (278-280=567, -9). The Golden Flashes currently have three golfers among the Top Eight individuals.
KSU's Ian Holt (65-71) is the leader in the clubhouse at eight-under par 136, followed closely by host Louisiana-Lafayette's Fernando Cruz Valle (68-70), Illinois' Nick Hardy (66-72) and LSU's Sam Burns (70-68) at six-under par 138.
The third and final round of the two-day tourney will be held on Tuesday with Toledo's tee times beginning at 8:42 a.m. (CT) off the 10th hole. The Rockets will be paired with Louisiana Tech and Southern Illinois for the final 18 holes.
