Rockets to Compete at MAC Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich.

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo track & field team competes in the Mid-American Conference championships on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 in Ypsilanti, Mich. at the Bowen Field House.

UT will look towards a strong distance group to lead the team.

Maja Pacaric and Petronela Simiuc will both compete in the 800-meter run and the mile with Athena Welsh also set for the mile.

Welsh will double up and run the 3000m with Joan Jepkirui and Caroline Lambert. Jepkirui and Lambert, along with Stephanie Barlow, will compete in the 5000m as well.

The jumps will also need to perform well for the Rockets to rank near the top of the conference. Alexa Jarrett (pole vault), Madeline Pacella (high jump), Ty'Shai Freeman (triple jump) and Madison Pierce (long jump) will all look to score points in their respective events.

Katie Dewey and Sally Frank will represent the Rockets in the shot put.

Any national qualifiers will compete in the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas on March 10-11.
