Toledo Hosts MAC West Division Rival EMU on Wednesday on ESPN3

TOLEDO, OH - With under two weeks remaining in the regular season, Toledo (17-8, 8-6 MAC) hosts Eastern Michigan (6-20, 1-13Â MAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 22 looking to remain in contention for a bye in the first round of next month's Mid-American Conference Tournament. Tip-off time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and the MAC West Division showdown will be streamed on ESPN3.
The Rockets are currently in sixth place in the overall MAC standings and trail Central Michigan (20-6, 12-2 MAC), Northern Illinois (18-7, 11-3), Ball State (18-8, 11-3), Ohio (18-7, 9-5) and Kent State (15-11, 9-5) with only four regular-season contests remaining.
If the regular season ended before tomorrow's match-up, the Rockets would be the No. 6 seed in the MAC Tournament. The top four seeds receive an automatic bye to the quarterfinals of the postseason event. Â
UT, which is 9-4 at home, will be looking to rebound from a 72-61 road setback at MAC West Division leader CMU on Saturday.Â
The Chippewas outscored the Rockets, 27-14, in the fourth quarter to stop a five-game losing skid in the series.Â
Sophomore Mikaela Boyd paced UT with 15 points, followed closely by senior Janice Monakana, junior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott and sophomore Kaayla McIntyre with 14, 13 and 11, respectively.Â
As a team, Toledo shot 36.5 percent (23-of-63) from the field and a season-high 87.5 percent (14-of-16) from the free throw line to sustain only its second loss in the last seven games.Â
Central Michigan finished with a decisive 54-36 rebounding edge, including 23 offensive boards, which the home team translated into 20 points. UT had been outstanding on the glass over the previous five games, outrebounding its opponents by 8.6 rpg (42.2-33.6).
Despite the loss, the Midnight Blue & Gold did a good job taking care of the basketball and tallied 11 assists to go along with a season-tying low 10 turnovers.
For the year, the Rockets are fueled offensively by the trio of Bravo-Harriott, Monakana, Boyd and McIntyre, who are averaging 12.5, 12.5, 11.4 and 10.3 ppg, respectively.
Bravo-Harriott has been superb offensively over the last five games, averaging a squad-high 16.0 ppg.
Toledo will face an EMU squad that has dropped its last six contests, including a 70-60 loss at Western Michigan on Saturday. Micah Robinson paced the Eagles with 14 points.
Eastern Michigan, which is 2-12 away from home, features an offense with four players tallying at least 10.0 points per game, led by Toledo native Sasha Dailey and Phillis Webb contributing 16.5 and 14.4 ppg, respectively.
