Toledo Travels to 2016 MAC Tournament Champion Buffalo on Wednesday

AMHERST, NY - Toledo (11-3, 2-1 MAC) will look to run its winning streak to three straight games when it travels to reigning Mid-American Conference Tournament champion Buffalo (11-3, 1-2 MAC) on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Arena and will be televised on the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) and Time Warner Cable Sports Channel (TWCS) as part of the MAC's television package, as well as streamed live on ESPN3. Tomorrow's contest can also be heard on 1370 AM (WSPD) with Jim Heller, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
UT, which was ranked No. 24 in last week's collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, is coming off double-digit victories against Eastern Michigan, 66-49, last Wednesday, Jan. 4 and most recently Miami, 64-50, on Saturday.
The Rockets outscored the RedHawks, 28-15, in the final period to claim their 11th-straight victory over their MAC cross-division foe. UT shot a sizzling 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the field during the final 10 minutes and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe to equal its highest point total in a quarter this season.Â
Freshman Mariella Santucci paced the Midnight Blue & Gold with 15 points, three caroms, five helpers and two steals, followed closely by sophomore Mikaela Boyd with 12 points, eight boards, a team-high seven dimes and a collegiate-best six steals.
Toledo also received nine points from junior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott, eight points, seven rebounds and a career-high four rejections by sophomore Kaayla McIntyre, seven points from freshman Sara Rokkanen and six points and a career-tying best nine boards from sophomore Sarah St-Fort to stay within one game of MAC West Division co-leaders Central Michigan (11-4, 3-0 MAC), Ball St. (10-5, 3-0 MAC) and Northern Illinois (10-4, 3-0 MAC).
UT, which is 5-1 away from home, is fueled offensively by the trio of Bravo-Harriott, Boyd and senior Janice Monakana, who are averaging 13.0, 10.9 and 9.9 ppg, respectively. Monakana has missed the last two games with a leg injury and is listed as questionable for tonight's contest.
Buffalo enters Wednesday's MAC cross-division match-up on the heels of Saturday's 88-71 road setback against the Chippewas. Theresa Onwuka led the Bulls with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Stephanie Reid, 2015-16 first-team All-MAC selection JoAnna Smith and Cassie Oursler had 11 points each, as they suffered their third loss in the last four contests.
UB, which is a perfect 8-0 at home, is led by Smith's 13.6 points, followed by Oursler and Reid's 9.8 and 9.0 ppg, respectively. In addition, Reid is second in the MAC in assist/turnover ratio (2.6, 6.4-2.4) and third in helpers (6.4 apg).

UT leads the all-time series, 19-4, but has split the last four meetings against its MAC cross-division foe.
