TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (10-3, 1-1 MAC) hosts Mid-American Conference East Division foe Miami (6-9, 0-2 MAC) on Saturday, Jan. 7 looking to continue momentum from its victory over Eastern Michigan (66-49). Tip-off time is set for Noon in Savage Arena and will be televised on the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) and Time Warner Cable Sports Channel (TWCS) as part of the MAC's television package, as well as streamed live on ESPN3.
Tomorrow's cross-division match-up is the first of a doubleheader, as the Rocket men's team will follow with a contest against Miami at 4:00 p.m.
UT, which was ranked No. 24 in this week's collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, is coming off an impressive 17-point road triumph over the Eagles on Wednesday to snap a three-game losing skid against its MAC West Division rivals.
Sophomore Kaayla McIntyre and sophomore Mikaela Boyd paced UT with a career-high 19 points each against EMU, while junior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott had 15 to help the Midnight Blue & Gold bounce back from last Saturday's MAC-opening setback against Ball State.
The Rockets' trio accounted for 53 of the team's 66 points and 25 of their season-high 52 rebounds. Boyd led the victors with a collegiate-best 11 caroms to post her second-career double-double, while McIntyre and sophomore Sarah St-Fort ripped down nine apiece.
Toledo was also stout defensively against the Eagles and limited them to only 29.0 percent (18-of-62) from the floor, including 15.8 percent (3-of-19) from beyond the arc. Â
UT, which is 5-2 at home, is fueled offensively by the trio of Bravo-Harriott, Boyd and senior Janice Monakana, who are averaging 13.3, 10.8 and 9.92 ppg, respectively.
Miami enters tomorrow's MAC cross-division match-up on the heels of Wednesday's 85-60 home setback against Western Michigan. Leah Purvis led the RedHawks with 16 points off the bench and Kayla Brown had 10, as they suffered their third loss in the last four contests.
Miami, which is 4-5 away from home, is led by Lauren Dickerson's 14.4 points, 4.0 caroms, 3.4 helpers and 1.7 thefts per game.
The Rockets and RedHawks will meet for the only time during the 2017 MAC campaign and the 63rd time overall. UT leads the all-time series, 37-25, winning the last 10 meetings by an average of 11.8 ppg (69.2-57.4) since the 2009-10 campaign.
UT also maintains a 21-8 advantage in home games and has won the last five match-ups on its home court.Â
A season ago, Toledo claimed a 55-50 road victory (Jan. 13).
Miami's most recent victory against the Rockets occurred in the 2008 MAC Tournament Semifinals when it secured a 70-66 neutral-court decision in Quicken Loans Arena (March 14).
Following tomorrow's contest, the Rockets will travel to 2016 MAC Tournament champion Buffalo (11-2, 1-1 MAC) on Wednesday, Jan. 11. The opening tip versus the Bulls is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Arena and will be televised on the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) and Time Warner Cable Sports Channel (TWCS).
UT and UB will square off for the first of two match-ups during the 2017 MAC campaign and the 24th time overall. Toledo leads the all-time series, 19-4, but has split the last four meetings against its MAC cross-division foe.
The Rockets also hold a slim 7-4 edge in away games but has dropped the last two meetings in Alumni Arena.Â
A year ago, Toledo secured a 71-60 home victory (Feb. 10).Â
