Rockets Host Miami in Three-Game Series this Weekend

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo will welcome MAC-foe Miami to the Glass City this weekend on April 1-2. The Rockets will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Scott Park Softball Complex. UT will return to the field on Saturday for a single contest against the RedHawks at Noon.

Junior 2B Chandler Rice has tallied a team-high 10 RBI, while also recording 22 hits, five doubles and a pair of homeruns.

In the circle, senior Marla Gooding leads the Rockets with a 4.12 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 90.0 innings pitched. Gooding made 20 appearances on the mound, hurling for 10 complete games and winning five. Freshman RHP Heather Webb has also tallied 27 strikeouts in 52.0 innings.

Senior Taylor Huey is leading the RedHawks' offense with a .385 batting average after going 37-for-96 through their 28 games. Huey has recorded 17 runs, six doubles, three triples, and three homers. Freshman Michaela Schlattman has a .330 batting average after going 32-for-97 with four doubles and a team-high eight home runs.
Miami's starting pitcher, senior Amber Logemann, has recorded a 3.04 ERA after 92.0 innings pitched. Logemann has thrown 78 strikeouts and two shutouts.

Senior OF Jessica Lemieux, sophomore 1B Samantha Showalter and sophomore OF Ashley Rausch each went 2-for-5 in the two contests vs. the Bulls. Junior 2B Chandler Rice, junior DP Celeste Fidge, freshman 3B Megan Choate and freshman RHP Heather Webb each recorded a hit on the day as well with Lemieux and Rice both notching doubles.

The Rockets dropped a 6-3 decision to Buffalo in its third and final game of the weekend series.

MIAMI REDHAWKS BREAKDOWN
Last weekend, Miami completed a three-game sweep of Ball State in the opening weekend of MAC play. Following the sweep, the RedHawks won seven games in a row. Miami split a mid-weed doubleheader against Wright State. The Rockets lead the series with the RedHawks, 44-38. Last season, Toledo split its doubleheader against Miami, losing the opener, 0-5, but bouncing back in the game two with a 3-0 victory. It was the Rockets' second-consecutive conference series split with the RedHawks.Â
MAC OPENING WEEKEND - BUFFALO RECAP

Toledo will travel to Ypsilanti, MI on April 5 for a mid-week twinbill with Eastern Michigan. The first game vs. the Eagles is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. UT will then return to the Glass City to host its home series with Ohio.
