Rockets Welcome Detroit to the Glass City

TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo women's tennis team hosts Detroit on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 1:00 p.m. The match will be held at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee, OH.

Following the match, the UT men's and women's tennis programs will be hosting a kid's clinic for ages 4-13 at approximately 3:30 p.m. at Shadow Valley. The USTA Play Day is sponsored by Babolot Tennis and the First Serve Tennis Shop. Participants can sign up at YouthTennis.com

"We are looking to build off of the solid win against Cincinnati last Friday," said head coach Tracy Mauntler. "We need to focus on getting consistency from each player going into Sunday's match."

The Rockets are 3-5 in dual matches this season and are coming off of a 4-3 victory at Cincinnati and a 5-2 loss at Wright State.

Last Friday, when match between the Rockets and Bearcats was tied 3-3, it came down to a second game-clinching match at No. 5 singles. Freshman Claire Aleck defeated Katya Bure, 7-5, in the opening set but Bure answered back with a 6-1 victory of her own. Aleck powered through with a 6-4 victory in set three to give the Rockets the win.
