Rockets to Open Spring Season at FGCU Eagle Invitational This Weekend

   TOLEDO, OH — Toledo begins its spring campaign this weekend with a trip to the Sunshine State for the FGCU Eagle Invitational on Friday-Sunday, February 12-14. The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,135-yard Stoneybrook Golf Club in Estero, FL.

     The scoring format will consist of each team fielding five players, with the lowest four scores counting for each round. Eighteen holes will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start each day.

     The Rockets are ranked No. 89 in the Golfstat computer rankings. UT will be facing 14 schools — No. 55 Mercer, No. 100 Xavier, No. 109 Elon, No. 120 Arkansas State, No. 123 Central Arkansas, No. 134. Ball State, No. 143 McNeese State, No. 148 FGCU, No. 163 Stephen F. Austin, No. 202 Drake, No. 205 Florida Atlantic, No. 211 Western Illinois, No. 227 Southern Illinois and No. 237 USC Upstate — in the three-day event.

     Toledo won a school-record three-straight tournaments to end the fall with titles at the Rocket Classic (Oct. 5-6), the MAC Fall Preview (Oct. 11-12) and the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational (Oct. 25-27). Senior Manisa Isavas earned medalist honors at the Rocket Classic, while senior Morgan Salm was runner-up at the Rocket Classic and MAC Fall Preview.

     Senior Sathika Ruenreong, who captured a share of the FGCU Eagle Invitational last year at five-over par 221 (75-72-74), leads the Rockets with a 73.5 stroke average followed by Isavas (74.9), Salm (75.6) and freshman Pimchanok Kawil (76.8). Joining UT's top four performers in the lineup this weekend will be freshman Natcha Daengpiem (77.5).
