TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (7-1) will begin a season-long four-game homestand when it entertains Atlantic-10 member St. Bonaventure (4-5) on Sunday, Dec. 11. Tip-off time is set for Noon in Savage Arena and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
The Rockets are off to their best start since they rattled off 12 wins in their opening 13 games in 2012-13.
UT has been sensational at home over the last eight-plus years and compiled a 103-28 (.786) ledger, including a perfect 3-0 mark this season. The Midnight Blue & Gold has outscored the opposition by a whopping 31.7 ppg (81.0-49.3) in its home contests this year.
Toledo, which is No. 25 in this week's collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, is coming off a thrilling 76-72 victory at Dayton on Friday.
Junior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott and sophomore Mikaela Boyd paced the victorious Rockets with 16 points each against the Flyers, while senior Janice Monakana had 14 to help them snap a four-game losing skid in the series. Monakana just missed posting her first double-double of the season, pulling down a team-high nine boards. The win was also UT's first at UD since 2003.
In a non-league game that featured seven ties and eight lead changes, the Rockets strung together a pivotal 14-6 run midway through the fourth quarter to assume a lead they would not relinquish.
UD would not go quietly though, and cut the margin to two points on three occasions in the waning moments, but UT made five of six charity tosses in the final minute to seal the hard-fought road victory.
Toledo shot a season-high 74.1 percent (20-of-27) from the free throw line to start the year 7-1 for only the fifth time in program history.
SBU is in the midst of a mini two-game losing skid, most recently suffering a 75-56 road setback at Mid-American Conference member Eastern Michigan on Friday. Gabby Richmond and Mariah Ruff paced the Bonnies with 15 points each.
The 2016 NCAA Tournament participants feature an attack with three players averaging at least 8.0 points per game led by Ruff's 13.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg and a squad-best 4.0 apg, followed by Richmond's 9.8 ppg.
Toledo and St. Bonaventure will square off for the fifth-straight year. The Rockets lead the all-time series, 3-1, with the Bonnies most recently claiming a 74-63 home triumph on Nov. 29, 2015.
UT has won both match-ups against SBU at home, securing a 64-58 victory on Nov. 20, 2014 and a 59-45 victory in the championship game of the 2012 Glass City Tournament on Dec. 2.
Following tomorrow's game, Toledo will host top-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday, Dec. 18. The opening tip against the Fighting Irish is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
