Rockets Continue Non-Conference Schedule with Two Matches this Weekend

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo women's tennis team returns to the courts this weekend when they travel to West Virginia and Pennsylvania for a pair of matches. UT will battle West Virginia on Friday, Jan. 29 at Noon before traveling to Duquesne on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. match.
"We are looking forward to being challenged by two great teams this weekend," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "I really liked the effort our girls gave against Cleveland St. and so I'm excited to build from that against WVU and Duquesne."
The Rockets look to build on the momentum from last week's 6-1 victory over Cleveland State.
Sophomores Megan Miller and Sidnay Huck and senior Lauren Thai each tallied a two-set victory in singles.
Huck defeated Victoria Bensimon 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the No. 2 spot and Miller won 6-4, 6-3 in No. 5 against Morgan Nix. Thai picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 6 versus Aleksandra Golawska.
Senior Emily Mazzola downed Princess Gbadamosi in a three set battle. Mazzola won 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles slot, while sophomore Colleen O'Brien defeated Mathilde Orange 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at. No. 3.
For the second week in a row, the Mazzola and Huck tag-team was unstoppable at No. 1 doubles. They defeated a CSU pair 6-3, while Miller and O'Brien followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 2.
