Rockets to Celebrate Seniors at Buffalo Meet on Jan. 30

TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team will welcome Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo to the Glass City on Saturday, Jan. 30. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the UT Student Recreation Center and will also serve as senior day for Toledo's five senior athletes. The Senior Day presentation is set to kick off at 12:45 p.m.

The Rockets are comig off of a 151-149 loss to Ball State in their last outing on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Seniors Lauren Comer and Samantha Richart were victorious in each of their races.

Comer placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.96), 200-yard backstroke (2:07.70) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.64). Junior Allie Brinkhoff touched second in the 200 back at 2:09.83 and third in the 200 IM at 2:11.83.

Richart touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.44) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.66). Sophomore Jessica Avery came in second in the 200 breast at 2:25.36.

Junior Rachael Hester claimed a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:41.62, while senior Mary Dombkowski touched second at 10:47.91.

Sophomore Maggie Hack won the 200-yard freestyle by touching the wall in 1:56.08.

The 50-yard freestyle was won by senior Brooke Edwards with a time of 24.51, while freshman Stephanie Lohnes claimed third place by posting a 25.54 final.

2016 Senior Class

	Lauren Comer Lauren swims freestyle, backstroke and individual medley events. A native of Upper Arlington, OH, Lauren has recorded 86 top-five finishes in individual events during her career. This season, she has finished each of her individual events within the top-four, and at last weekend's meet she finished all three of her races in first place. Lauren recorded three personal-best times this season and all three times have earned a spot within the top-ten fastest times in school history. She currently holds the fifth-fastest time in the 500 free, sixth-fastest time in the 200 free and the seventh-fastest time in the 200 back. All three times were recorded at the Miami Invitational last December. Last season, Lauren also recorded the 10^th-fastest time in school history in the 100 back and the fifth-fastest time in the 200 IM. Lauren earned Academic All-MAC honors last season and will graduate with a degree in special education.
	Mary Dombkowski Mary is a four-year member of the UT swimming and diving program and specializes in distance events. A native of Canton, MI, Mary has 56 career top-five finishes and has recorded ten of them this season. This December, she was two-tenths away from tying her personal record in the 500 free at the Miami Invite. Last season, Mary placed 16^th and recorded a personal-best time in the 1,650 freestyle at the MAC Championships. Mary will graduate with a pre-business degree.
	Brooke Edwards Brooke swims the sprint freestyle events. A native of Dundee, MI, Brooke has recorded 103 top-five finishes in her career, including nine first-place finishes this season. She recorded four personal-best times this season, three of which have earned a spot within the top-ten fastest times in school history. Brooke currently holds the seventh and eighth-fastest times in the 50 free, the fifth, sixth and ninth-fastest times in the 100 free and the sixth-fastest time in the 200 free. All of Brookes PRs were recorded last December at the Miami Invitational. Last season, she finished 10^th at the MAC Championships in the 100 free. Brooke will graduate with a degree in communication.
	Samantha Richart A native of Saline, MI, Samantha is one of the top breaststrokers in program history. She has recorded a first-place finish in all six of her 100-yard breaststroke events this season and she has finished all of her individual events within the top-five. Samantha recorded two personal-best times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Miami Invitational this season. In the school record book, she currently holds the third, fourth, eighth and tenth-fastest times in the 100 breaststroke and the seventh-fastest time in the 200 breaststroke. Each one of Sammy's 100-yard times this season was individually fast enough to make the top-ten. She placed eighth in the 200 breaststroke at last season's MAC Championships. Edwards earned Academic All-MAC honors last season and will graduate with a degree in speech-language pathology.
	Jamie Schindler Jamie is one of Toledo's two divers. A native of Centerville, OH, Jamie has recorded 16 top-five finishes in her career, including three victories this season. Jamie has recorded personal-best scores in both her one-meter and three-meter dives this year. She recorded 271.73 points in the one-meter dive for a first-place finish at the Duquesne dual meet in November. Jamie then scored 276.53 points for a victory in the three-meter dive against Oakland on Jan. 9. Jamie is an early childhood education major.
