Toledo Picks Up Four Victories Against Buffalo

TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo swimming and diving team was defeated by Buffalo 177-123 on Saturday afternoon at the UT Rec Center.
Senior Sammy Richart, senior Brooke Edwards, senior Lauren Comer and sophomore Jessica Avery scored the Rocket's four victories against the Bulls. UT also had eight second place finishes.
Richart finished three seconds ahead of Avery to win the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.87.
Edwards overcame a battle against Buffalo's Eve Kosten to win the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.78, her second fastest 100-yard freestyle ever.
Avery swam her second fastest time in the 200 breaststroke at 2:20.57 en route to a victory.
Comer took home first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.10, over two seconds ahead of Buffalo's Claudia Casale. She also accounted for three second place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (1:52.53), 500-yard freestyle (5:08.72) and the 800 yard freestyle relay, along with Maggie Hack, Brooke Edwards and Julie Schmidt.
Edwards also finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:52.53.
Schmidt finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.56.
Senior Jamie Schindler scored 231.15 in the three-meter dive, good for second place. Sophomore Danielle Forbes finished fifth with a score of 214.65.
The quartet of freshman Stephanie Lohnes, senior Sammy Richart, sophomore Kat Streicher and senior Brooke Edwards finished second in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:46.13.
The Rockets travel to Huntington, WV next weekend to take on Ohio and host Marshall for the Marshall Invitational on Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.
