TOLEDO, OH — Toledo begins its season at Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational for the second straight year and will look to repeat last season's strong showing. UT is competing in the Fossum event for the 12th time in the last 13 years at the par-72, 6,236-yard Forest Akers West Golf Course. The tourney will consist of 54 holes, 36 on Saturday, Sept. 12 and 18 on Sunday, Sept. 13.

     The Rockets notched their best finish ever at the Fossum Invite last year with a third-place showing. UT shot 55-over par 919 (308-301-310) and finished just six strokes behind Notre Dame (309-297-307=913) and two in back of the No. 24 Spartans (307-292-318=917).

     The Rockets return three-time first-team All-MAC honoree Sathika Ruenreong, who tied for sixth place at MSU last year at 10-over par 226 (75-74-77), as well as two-time second-team All-MAC recipient Manisa Isavas. Joining the aforementioned duo in this weekend's lineup will be senior Morgan Salm and the freshman duo of Natcha Daengpiem and Pimchanok Kawil. Sophomore Napaphan Phongpaiboon will compete in the event as an individual.

     "There is a nice mix of veterans and youth on our roster this year," Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "We have some players who have played at Michigan State before, and I expect them to lead us and show our newcomers what it's like to compete in a collegiate tournament."

     Ruenreong ranked fourth in the MAC with a 74.7 stroke average en route to becoming the first Rocket to earn first-team All-MAC accolades on three occasions. Isavas received second-team All-MAC accolades for a second-straight year after posting a 76.7 mark that ranked ninth in the league.
