Rockets Suffer Setback in Game Three vs. Central Michigan

Toledo managed just four hits in Sunday's afternoon loss to the Chippewas at Mercy Field.
TOLEDO, OH – The Rockets suffered a 14-1 setback against Central Michigan in Sunday's series finale at Mercy Field. With the loss, Toledo falls to 10-21 overall and 4-5 in Mid-American Conference play.
UT senior RHP Alec Schmenk (1-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season, giving up four runs on six hits in 3.0 innings of work. The Toledo bullpen also struggled, surrendering a combined 10 runs on just seven hits.
The Midnight Blue & Gold couldn't manage much at the plate against the Chippewas (20-12, 7-2 MAC), as they tallied just four hits on the day. The quartet of senior 3B Nate Langhals (1-for-3), junior CF John Martillotta (1-for-3), junior C Lucas Sokol (1-for-2) and sophomore DH Jordan Kesson (1-for-3) recorded the hits in the contest for the home team.
The Rockets' lone run came in the fourth inning when freshman 1B Dalton Bollinger skyed a sacrifice fly to right field which was deep enough to score Kesson on the tag up.
CMU plated runs in seven of the nine frames, including each of the final five, to win two of the three games against its MAC West Division rival UT this weekend.Â
Toledo will look to bounce back against Horizon League foe Valparaiso on Tuesday, April 7 at Emory G. Butler Stadium. The first pitch between the Rockets and Crusaders is slated for 3:05 p.m. Â Â
