TOLEDO, OH – Toledo (4-9-0, 0-4-0 MAC) will return to Scott Park for a pair of Mid-American Conference weekend matches. UT will face arch-rival Bowling Green (6-5-1, 2-2-0 MAC) on Friday, Oct. 9 at 4:00 p.m., and against Eastern Michigan (4-7-1, 1-3-0) on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the corner of Hill Ave. and Parkside Blvd. Both contests will be shown on ESPN3.
UT returned home last weekend to continue Mid-American Conference play when it took on Ball State and Miami. Toledo dropped both contests 3-1.
"Our team is right there in matches," first-year head coach TJ Buchholz said. "I believe this group is doing the right things and should be seeing results soon."
The Rockets will host two squads that picked up their first MAC wins last weekend. BG defeated Akron and Buffalo last weekend, while EMU took home a victory against the Zips.
Friday's contest will be Buchholz's first "Battle of I-75."
"The match against our rival means quite a bit to this group," Buchholz said. "BG is a strong team this year with quality wins. I'm very impressed with their squad as a whole."
The rivalry match falls on Homecoming weekend, which will ratchet up the intensity even more.
"Since a lot of alumni will be at the contest, it means that much more to us," senior Geri Siudzinski said. "It's always a fun contest because both sides always bring it."
The Midnight Blue & Gold hold a record of 11-7-4 against the Falcons. UT currently has a seven-match winning streak against its rival, and the last Rocket defeat came in 2007. The Rockets are also 12-11-1 all-time against the Eagles, with their last win coming on Oct. 23, 2011 in Ypsilanti.
Toledo will head east to continue MAC play when they take on Buffalo on Friday, Oct. 16 at 4:00 p.m. and the Akron on Sunday, Oct.18 at noon.
