PERRYSBURG, OH - Toledo will wrap up its fall season when it hosts the second-annual Rocket Individual Classic on Sunday, Oct. 25. The one-day event will be played at the par-71, 6,918-yard Belmont Country Club. The 36-hole event will consist of a tee time start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The Rockets are slated to compete against Ball State, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois and Valparaiso in their final event of the fall.
UT is coming off an 11th-place showing at the weather-shortened Mountaineer Intercollegiate earlier this week. The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes but only 36 could be played due to a frost delay at the Pete Dye Golf Club (Par-72, 7,353 Yards). Freshman Mike Lee (78-73) and senior Otto Black (70-81) led the Rockets at their sixth tourney of the fall season by tying for 23rd place at seven-over par 151.
A year ago at the inaugural Rocket Individual Classic, former Rocket Mike Lancaster captured medalist honors shooting a three-round score of one-over par 217 (74-70-73) to post a whopping 10-shot victory over Indiana's Keegan Vea at 11-over par 227 (73-75-79). Sophomore Colin Joseph was UT's next best finisher in third place at 13-over par 229 (77-74-78) with former Rocket Pat Cermak (81-76-75) and senior Thomas Shindler (73-83-76) three strokes behind tied for sixth place at 16-over par 232.
Competing for UT at this weekend's season-ending event will be Shindler and freshmen Jamie Knipe, Cameron Mills and Spencer Shoemaker.
